The growing world population has already put a strain on food supplies in some countries. Now, to make matters worse, farmers across Central and South Asia are struggling to save their crops from the largest invasion of locusts in more than 20 years. The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization is warning that there could even be a second wave of locusts if storms on the Indian Ocean cause heavy rains this summer. In response, Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief has already stepped up to provide support.
“At MODR, we believe in the power of local partnerships,” said Gaylon Moss, Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief Director. “Together with our local partners, we’re responding to the locust crisis in Central Asia, providing immediate relief and assistance to affected communities. Whether it’s helping after a Missouri disaster or helping our fellow man on the other side of the globe, the support we receive from our donors makes a real difference!”
