As of late this evening, we know of at least 3 people who have come to know the Lord through the ministry of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams serving in Missouri after the recent tornadoes! This is what the ministry is all about … transforming lives and communities with the Gospel by bringing Help, Hope, and Healing.
One opportunity we have been given is to serve over the next few weeks at MARCs around the state. A MARC is a Multi Agency Resource Center that is set up by the state in an affected location where homeowners can come to receive assistance from multiple agencies all in one area. MODR has been asked to provide food, as well as ambassadors for several of these MARCs. Along with several feeding teams from Missouri, SBDR partners from Louisiana Baptist, Oklahoma Baptist, Illinois Baptist, and Kansas/Nebraska Baptist DR will help to cover the feeding ministry for these events. In addition, Missouri has been blessed with assistance from several other friends from the SBDR network coming to assist. We currently have teams from Texans on Misison serving a site in Poplar Bluff, a team from Southern Baptists of Texas Convention serving a site in West Plains, and several chainsaw teams from Kansas/Nebraska, Iowa, Kentucky, Georgia, and Illinois. What a great picture of partnership. A big thank you to all of those conventions!
Chainsaw work continues in the Saint Louis Metro area, Rolla, Poplar Bluff, and West Plains. The chainsaw work has ceased in Piedmont, but MODR remains in that community feeding out of our QRU, and providing public showers.
